Beauty and health of your legs are the cases of aesthetic phlebology. Exactly this is the care of a doctor-phlebologist.

Phlebologi is a science regarding veins and it is a special direction of vascular surgery. Lower limbs venous deceases have become significantly more common in recent years. Phlrbology has got effective means to tackle this problem.

A bit from history…

As it is known, even old Egyptians had information about venous deceases. This is proved with mummies, found during excavations, which had exposed varicose signs. That means that even old Egyptians were trying to treat this decease. Later, this decease was described in details by fathers of medicine - Hippocrates and Avicenna.

In the 19th century Trendelenburg tried to explain the reason of varicose veins as a “saphenofemoral reflux”.

In normal condition, blood moves from saphenous veins (under the skin) to vena-femoralis (hip vein), but in case of pathology blood circulation changes its direction and lower limbs veins fill with blood.

Trendelenburg suggested operational approach to solve this problem - juxtafemoral flush ligation of the great saphenous vein to the femoral vein.

Nowadays, medicine offers new, effective methods and modern diagnostic means to solve the phlebologic problems. Varicose or chronic venous insufficiency is curable with a professional approach. Modern phlebology is equipped with the means, which allow exact assessment of patients’ conditions, correct diagnosis and effective treatment. Not only recovery is very important for any woman, but also aesthetic result is expected from a phlebologist. That’s why individual approach of each patient’s case has a special importance.

Correctly chosen specialist is the main factor for successful treatment.

Modern phlebology has long refused to treat only one separate decease. All of the human organs are so tightly connected to each other that in case of venous insufficiency other systems also get damaged. It is necessary to find the connections between different pathologies and give the proper directions to patients. This is the duty of a doctor-phlebologist. A phlebologist’s experience and his attitude to varicose decease treatment is also important. He must know the old classic method, as well as using modern achievements of the field in his practice. Mini invasive treatment of varicose is a gold standard in phlebology.

Initial examination of a patient by a phlebologist and ultrasound duplex scanning of lower limbs veins have a great role in order to choose treatment method, as well as giving the further recommendations.

Treatment method is chosen only after identifying the level of the decease.

  • On the first stage (“cosmetic stage’’) of varicose decease, when mesenteric venous system isn’t still damaged, sclerotherapy method is used.
  • Micro sclerotherapy - this is the method when branch retinal vein occlusion is managed with the finest needles and special sclerosants (aetoxisclerol).
  • Foam-Form (micro-foam) sclerotherapy. Special foam – sclerosant is injected in the damaged vein by a phlebologist. Large diameter vein walls get adhered.
  • laser coagulation – Removing thin vessels and veins from different parts of body using a laser apparatus.

The Second Stage

When mesenteric venous system is damaged, a phlebologist can offer several methods of removing such veins after the consultation. Classic combined phlebectomy using general, spinal or local anesthesia. Incision is made in the area of groin.

More modern, saving, less invasive endovascular methods can also be used. For instance: radio frequency obliteration or laser endovasale coagulation and mini phleboctomy method.

The third stage

Decompensation stage of venous insufficiency is exposed not only with trophic disorders on calf, but also trophic ulcers of different diameters and length. In such case, a phlebologist’s correct decision and choosing the treatment tactics, which will solve the patient’s problem in much less time, are especially important.

Necessary information!  Self-treatment is strictly restricted in case of venous diseases.

Patients often apply for a phlebologist late with harmful contraindications of self treatment (home and nontraditional medical methods), which complicate their conditions and makes the treatment process more difficult.

Moreover, using advertised, non-medical means without a doctor’s consultation and prescription is unacceptable. As far as each case is individual, there is no one universal means of treatment.
